A new country. A new beginning. And an idea whose destination was still unknown.
Just two years and eight months after arriving in the United States from Cuba, our founder took a chance on a small cigar shop in John’s Pass. There was no blueprint for what it would become and certainly no master plan for a growing brand, simply the desire to build something meaningful and the determination to find a way forward.
Established in 2008 and officially opened in March 2009 with just 900 square feet, Cuban Paradise Cigar & Café opened its doors on Village Boulevard in the heart of John’s Pass, Madeira Beach, Florida. House Blend Cigars, gourmet coffee, hospitality, and the relaxed coastal character of John’s Pass came together to shape the identity of Cuban Paradise.
Over the years, Cuban Paradise grew alongside the ideas taking shape within it. Our original 900-square-foot shop expanded to more than 5,000 square feet, today featuring a 1,200+ sq. ft. walk-in humidor filled with House Blends and premium cigars. Guests can watch our cigar rollers in action crafting our blends, then sit back, sip, and relax at our outdoor sidewalk café while taking in the energy of John’s Pass.
MORE THAN CIGARS
That same spirit led to Mad Pub, our sister location next door, adding craft beer, cocktails, and spirits to create a natural pairing experience. Guests can select their favorite cigar at Cuban Paradise, choose a drink from Mad Pub, and enjoy the two together just steps away.
What began at Cuban Paradise would eventually grow beyond John’s Pass.
It was at Cuban Paradise that the Cigar Paradise brand was born. In time, that vision expanded to Cigar Paradise Royal Lounge in Downtown St. Petersburg and later to Clearwater Beach Cigar Lounge in Clearwater Beach.
Today, Cuban Paradise is the original location behind the Cigar Paradise brand, a family of three cigar destinations in the Florida Tampa Bay area. Each location has its own personality and setting, but they all share an origin that leads back to Cuban Paradise.
